Careers:

Volunteer Writer

Summary

SmallCanBeBig.org is an online micro-charity that launched in January 2009. We provide a new way for people to directly and immediately help families in need by using the Internet to harness the power of small donations. SmallCanBeBig is an all volunteer organization with no direct overhead which enables 100% of every dollar donated to go directly to support a family in need. We rely on a talented group of volunteer writers to contribute a few stories a month to our organization.

Description

The creative writer will be responsible for turning a family post made by a charity caseworker into original copy for SmallCanBeBig.org. The centerpiece of the SmallCanBeBig.org site are family stories that provide a compelling glimpse into why hardworking families find themselves in situations that compromise their stability and put them on the verge of homelessness. Our volunteer writers provide a critical role in setting the right tone and voice for the site to engage donors and keep them coming back.

Volunteers are provided a one-page write-up on a family with details on the critical situation and need. Families are kept anonymous but writers are encouraged to use the details provided to bring their issues and challenges to life.
