Little S knows his mom is sick. He may not understand the extent of S’s four year battle with breast cancer or the smile she puts on just for him day after day, but he does understand a few fundamental things about his family.

For example, every Friday Little S and his mom go out for a slice of pizza to celebrate another 100% on his weekly spelling test. Saturdays are for laying in the park and watching planes go by overhead from Logan Airport. And his mom always says, “Today is going to be a great day!” on their walks to school in the mornings. These are the things that Little S can count on.

Although S is between cancer treatments right now the past few years have been riddled with doctors’ appointments and medication, putting this mom and son in their own financial crisis. S lies awake at night worried that their heat will be turned off, their lights will go out or someone will come to repossess the car she depends on to get to the hospital and care for her son. Losing heat, electricity or the car she relies on would be a huge hit to the sense of normalcy S has worked so hard to maintain for her son since she was diagnosed.

S wakes up in the morning ready to smile and think positively because of her little boy. The next few months are daunting when a mountain of bills are the final challenge to this young family’s way of life. But $1,250 by March 20th gets Little S and his mom back on their feet.
