Baby M’s hometown will always be in South Carolina. But for now, he is growing up in Boston pediatric oncology hospitals. On the cusp of a year-long treatment plan that should lead him to recovery, Baby M is waging a fight against brain cancer at the age of six months.

When the diagnosis came just two months ago, his parents sold everything-including their car-and began moving the family to Massachusetts. Their plan was to meet with some of the best doctors in the world and tirelessly pursue remission. Today, that plan is taking shape and a cure is in sight.

But while they were once saving for a bigger home below the Mason-Dixon Line, they now see their money dissolving into countless medical bills and the cost of moving a family of eight to one of the most expensive cities in the United States.

Baby M is Mr. and Mrs. M’s sixth child. M’s older sister is “three going on thirty,” her dad says. The personal mission of the only daughter in this family has been to nurture her little brother back to health. He is, after all, the only one smaller than she is in this family of active, constantly growing boys. Baby M’s oldest brother is 22, and when the diagnosis came he stepped in to help his parents take care of his younger siblings while they started a new life in Boston.

Dad plans to secure a new job in the coming month, and all eight of the Ms will have made the final move to Massachusetts by the end of March. $1,500 by June 6th would cover this month’s rent and put a family praying for a cure on solid financial ground. How can you help?
