Ms. R and her eight-year-old daughter refuse to let the storms of life get them down. Despite the fact that they are in a tough spot financially, their home is full of song, laughter, and positive spirit. Daughter R dreams of being a famous pop singer and dancer when she grows up. She and Ms. R spend many evenings making up song and dance routines and practicing them around the house, pretending as though a massive audience were applauding their performance.

Unfortunately, recent bouts with mental illness left Ms. R hospitalized and unable to work for a period of time. This led to financial difficulties that nearly left Ms. R and her daughter without a home. Through perseverance and a firm commitment to the goal of self-sufficiency, Ms. R was able to recover and is now back to work. However, Ms. R still has to take things one day at a time as she tries to provide a safe and stable home for herself and her daughter.

Ms. R has worked as a medical assistant for several years. Her passion for the medical field and her desire for continual self-improvement led her to enroll in a nursing program at a local college. For the time being, however, she is unable to pay the tuition. With just $862 by September 8, Ms. R will be able to afford the tuition and attend classes that will make her more capable of providing a secure life for the R family. How can you help this determined and optimistic mother-daughter pair through a stormy time?
