This time last year, Ms L was living a stable life. She had a job, a loving boyfriend and a healthy 1 year-old daughter. Their small family where both adults were working was happy and comfortable until Ms L was laid off. Though she loved her work and the company, Ms L soon found herself another victim to the economy.
After becoming unemployed, her boyfriend, a loving father and responsible partner, left the relationship. It was then that Ms L’s life snowballed. She quickly found herself behind on rent, and ultimately faced homelessness. Though her family has helped wherever they could, currently Ms L and her daughter are in shelter, without stable housing.
It is there though where she has found friendships that give her and her daughter a sense of belonging, and bonds that Ms L knows she will continue to keep. Though she is eager to leave the shelter, Ms L has already begun to think about what she will do as she moves forward. Through her experience and from the other women at the shelter, Ms L has become humbled by how abruptly life can turn upside down. Instead of dwelling, she has decided to pursue a career in human services – determined to use her own struggles to inspire and help others.
Ms L and her daughter are in need of $1400 in order for their small family to begin again. What can you give to ignite their future?
